What is FirstNet Adviser?

FirstNet Adviser is Colonial First State’s secure online adviser website that provides you with access to your clients’ account information, the latest market and performance information, as well as a range of business, client and subscription reports. Specifically FirstNet Adviser allows you to:

Gaining access to FirstNet Adviser

You can gain access FirstNet Adviser by completing the FirstNet Adviser registration form and sending it in to the address indicated on the form.

This will allow us to issue you with a Online Identity Number and password, providing a high level of security.

Getting started on FirstNet Adviser

Once you have our letter confirming your registration for FirstNet Adviser, you have all the information you need to get started. The first step is to go to the Internet site at www.colonialfirststate.com.au and click on the FirstNet login button at the top of the page. It will ask you to type in your Online Identity Number and password.

What is an Online Identity Number (OIN)?

An Online Identity Number is your unique customer identifier that allows you to log in to FirstNet Adviser.

What is a password?

To login to FirstNet Adviser you are required to enter an OIN and a password.

A numeric password is an 8 digit number initially issued by mail to every person that uses FirstNet Adviser.

If there are 4 people in your office, you'll each have a different password. Your password should be kept confidential.

If you have a numeric password you will be prompted to change your password to an alphanumeric password upon first login to FirstNet Adviser.

How do I change my password?

To change your password:

  1. Select FirstNet Administration from the top navigation menu.
  2. Enter your current password.
  3. Enter and confirm your new password.
  4. Click Submit.

A confirmation page will appear to confirm that you have changed your password successfully. Note: It is important you change your password frequently to maintain the high level of security. You should keep your OIN and password details confidential at all times.

What happens if I lose or forget my password?

If you believe or suspect your password has been lost, stolen or become known to someone else, you should contact Adviser Services on 13 18 36. For security, your new password must be posted to you. It cannot be given out over the phone.

How do I reset my password online?

To reset your password online, click on the “Forgotten your password?” link and follow the prompts. You will be required to complete 5 steps.

I can’t generate an authentication code?

If you are having difficulty generating an authentication code to reset your password online, please call Adviser Services on 13 18 36.

My email address is locked.

If your email has been locked, please contact Adviser Services on 13 18 36.

I can’t answer my security questions? Or my security questions have been locked?

If you are unable to answer your security questions or they have been locked, please contact Adviser Services on 13 18 36.

Automatic password display – how to turn on or off in Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer offers the option to store your password details for forms from various web sites. If you would like to turn this feature off and clear your passwords from the memory, please follow these steps:

  1. While in Internet Explorer, click 'Tools' > 'Internet Options'
  2. Once on the internet options screen, select the 'Content' tab.
  3. Click the 'AutoComplete' button on the lower half of the screen
  4. Click the 'Clear Passwords' button to remove all passwords from memory. If you want to ensure you are never prompted about this again, ensure that no tick appears next to 'Prompt me to save passwords'.
  5. Click 'OK' to complete this change.

If you would like the automatic password display functionality to remain, then place a tick next to “User names and Passwords on forms” and “Prompt me to save passwords” in this section.

How secure is my investment information?

Connections to FirstNet Adviser are encrypted using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), which is the highest level of security available. The only way to login to access your information in FirstNet Adviser is to use your OIN (Online Investment Number) and password.
