Company information
At Colonial First State, we not only care about the well-being of our customers, but also the community as a whole. So we’ve introduced a number of initiatives that will benefit those in need.
Staff Community Fund
Together with the below two partners, this charity is helping to make the community a better place for kids. It’s funded by staff donations and all administration costs are paid for by the Commonwealth Bank, so every cent goes directly to charity.
Clown Doctors
Using magic, mime and mimicry, these humorous characters do ‘clown rounds’ in children’s hospitals. By helping children to forget about their illnesses, their stay in hospital is made just that little bit easier.
Midnight Basketball
This innovative initiative gets kids in some of our roughest areas off the streets and into a healthy activity during high-risk times like Saturday evenings. They also participate in workshops designed to address important issues such as drugs, alcohol, anger management and finding employment.
Charitable Donations
Colonial First State supports the work of local charities. Over a period of 17 weeks we gave the public the opportunity to nominate charities close to their heart to receive donations. Working with radio stations 3AW in Melbourne, 2UE in Sydney and 4BH in Brisbane to distribute donations, a total of 50 local charities benefited from this initiative, many who do not receive any government funding and rely strictly on donations.
Sustainability and Earth Hour
Colonial First State aspires to be a sustainable company, from the way we invest, to the way we communicate with our customers through our working practices and environmental impact. One example of this is our support of Earth Hour. On Saturday the 27th of March at 8:30pm, the lights will be switched off in all Colonial First State offices for one hour in an effort to help overcome global warming.

Partnering with Planet Ark
As the founding partner of ‘PaperCutz 4 Planet Ark’, we encourage all our clients to make the change to paper-free investing and opt-in for electronic communications. And for every client who converts to paper-free investing, Colonial First State donates $2 to the ‘PaperCutz 4 Planet Ark’ campaign. Since launching this initiative in 2007 over 170,000 clients have signed up and we’ve donated over $340,000.
